学习通a lot和a lot of最大的区别就是两者的用法不同。a lot做副词，在句中作主语、宾语或表语，其后常有动词不定式短语作后置定语。例如：My pig eats a lot。我的小猪很能吃。a lot of后可以接可数名词复数，用于肯定句时可以互换使用。例如：I have a lot of friends here。在这里我有许多朋友。
其次就是两者的形式不同：a lot of表示许多，等于many、lots of，常用于名词前面。a lot则表示a lot of sth.的省略形式，省略了后面的名词。a lot和a lot of意思相同。皆为大量，许多的意思。
a lot of=lots of，可修饰可数或不可数名词，意为“许多”，“大量的”，相当于many或much。a lot、a lot of、lots of通常用于肯定句，否定句中一般用many或much。
